In Key Stage 3 students are taught in technology teaching groups that are no larger than 22. During the fortnight cycle they experience three hours of technology, and throughout the year they fine tune their skills in food, textiles and product and graphic design, covering material functions, sustainable design and modern cultures. Students have workbooks provided for them and in these they complete theoretical work and design ideas. Practical outcomes at KS3 include seasonal vegetable soup, super hero cushions, steam punk clocks and thermal printed surf T-shirts.
In Key Stage 4 we offer food, textiles and product design to GCSE level. Students use the skills they have acquired during Key Stage 3 to create design ideas and research pages before advancing their skill levels to produce high quality final products. Some of our students go on to study A level Textiles or Food with us in the sixth form.
