Art at KS3 – students are taught in full tutor or teaching groups and they have two hours of art per fortnight. Work is done in three distinct areas each year building on acquisition of skills in drawing, print and three-dimensional studies. Over the course of the three years students complete three main projects a year covering a wide range of skills including drawing with a variety of media, collage, mono-printing, relief printing, mixed media, water colour painting, oil pastel Sgraffito, colouring pencils and various clay techniques.

Sketchbooks are provided for the students to complete their class and homework in. Projects are theme and artist based and we pride ourselves on ensuring that students study the work of a diverse and exciting range of both contemporary and historical artists. Drawing is an integral part of each project, and the students are encouraged to draw using a wide variety of materials.

Lower school art in addition to being focused on encouraging our students to aim for excellence and quality is a building block for GCSE Fine Art and/or GCSE Photography that we currently offer following the AQA Syllabus. A level Fine Art, and A level Photography are offered to our students in the Sixth Form. We remain a consistently popular option for students at both GCSE and A level and pride ourselves on our excellent results year on year.
