Art at KS3 – students are taught in full tutor or teaching groups and they have two hours of art per fortnight. Work is done in three distinct areas each year building on acquisition of skills in paint, print and three-dimensional studies. Sketch books are provided for the students to complete their class and homework in. Projects are theme based and these might range from historical bearded men to afternoon tea. Drawing is an integral part of each project and the students are encouraged to draw using a wide variety of materials. We look at the work of a range of artists and designers and try to use a lot of this to gain inspiration.

Lower school art in addition to being focused on encouraging our students to look at things closely is a building block for GCSE Art and Design that we currently offer following the OCR Syllabus. A level Art; Fine Art, and Art; Photography are offered to our students in the sixth form.
