Monday to Friday 8.15 until 3.00 including break and lunch time.

WHAT IS IN THE LIBRARY?

BOOKS

There are over 13,000 books. This includes fiction (stories) and non-fiction (factual) books.

LIBRARIAN

Mrs Pearce is the Librarian. She is here to help you.

LIBRARY HELPERS

Any student can become a Library Helper. You get sweets and house points for helping. Ask Mrs Pearce if you are interested.

BOOK CLUB

Book Club is every Wednesday lunch time. It is open to all students regardless of age or ability. We talk about all things book related.

HOMEWORK CLUB

Monday to Thursday 3.15 – 4.30. Students from all years can complete their schoolwork and study.

COMPUTERS

There are 14 computers and a printer to do your school or homework or log onto Reading Cloud.

STATIONERY SHOP

There is a small range of stationery items available to buy such as pens, pencils, protractors etc.

BORROWING A BOOK

You can borrow up to three books at a time. The loan is for two weeks, and the return date is stamped on the issuing sheet on the first page of your book.

·      CHOOSING THE RIGHT BOOK

Choose a book that you are going to enjoy. Look at the displays, the genre book lists or search on Reading Cloud. Fill out the Reading Questionnaire and Mrs Pearce can help you choose based on your answers.

·      TAKING A BOOK OUT

Go to the issuing desk and tell Mrs Pearce your name. She will scan it and put it onto your records. When you want to bring it back take it to the issuing desk and return it via the computer.

·      READING CLOUD

Students can search for books, write reviews and access other useful book lists, authors and other information. Ask Mrs Pearce for log in details.

PRIZES FOR READING!

Get a Reading Reward Bookmark from the Library. Note down each book you have read. Once you have read ten books get it signed off by your tutor (who will give you House Points for each book). Bring your completed Bookmark to the Library and Mrs Pearce will give you a prize.

There are five awards available – Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Diamond.

Prizes increase as you go through the awards. Prizes can include various items such as bookmarks, stickers, sweets, chocolates, pencils, pens, notebooks, mini treats, pins, toys, vouchers, and books.
