Applications open for Shape My City October 2025 programme

For creative 15-18 year olds from diverse backgrounds, for one year, to learn about cities, design and placemaking. The programme runs from October 2025 – July 2026.
Supported by businesses in the SW region enabling it to be free to for those who would otherwise not be able to access such knowledge and experience.
There are 10 modules on the first Wednesday of the month. 5-7pm with £5 provided for their travel and their evening meal on the day.

Live online career challenges – run by a range of employers like Unilever, BT, CapitalOne, GSK, iTV, Shell, Meta and more

Digdata is thrilled to announce free virtual work experience events with Meta for students this October 2024, designed to develop key employability skills such as problem solving, data literacy, storytelling, and presentation. Hosted on Microsoft Teams, these sessions take place outside of school hours, making them easily accessible.

Students will enjoy: • A 45-minute briefing with the Meta team • The opportunity to complete a career challenge at their own pace • Certification upon completion

These events provide valuable insights into emerging careers and help students build skills that will enhance their future education and employment choices.

NHS cadets is a new programme aimed at young people aged 14-18 providing opportunities to explore roles in healthcare.

The Institute of Civil Engineering

ICE’s on-demand virtual work experience programme Civil Engineers: Shaping the World is for students aged 14 to 18 years old and shows young people what being a civil engineer is all about.

It features:

online content that can be completed flexibly
6 student-friendly topics including sustainability, improving lives and keeping us entertained
recorded webinars featuring industry experts
a topic on being career ready with tips on CVs and cover letters
a certificate of completion at the end
