Buro Happold (Engineering)

We offer structured one-week programmes every July, exposing students to a wide range of areas to give a true flavour of the type of work we deliver.

Throughout the week there will be a series of workshops that are aimed to not only give students an introduction to core engineering disciplines, but also across business services such as marketing and finance, this is to develop a wide understanding of our industry. We also include site visits to bring engineering to life.

Arts and Social Sciences Y10 Work Experience 2025 – applications close 31st January 2025

Work Experience dates: 30th June – 4th July 2025

This Y10 work experience is for students who have an interest in careers related to arts and social sciences subjects. Students will work alongside academic, technical and professional staff to gain insight into the different types of jobs available in these areas. They will develop transferable skills such as teamworkcommunication and IT skills.

This placement would suit students interested in an arts and social sciences environment who want to understand the courses better and gain skills and career opportunities available in a university environment.

Please be aware that the work experience doesn’t include specific skills like acting, fine art, or graphic design.

STEM Work Experience: Year 10 and Year 12

A range of STEM Work Experience programmes are offered to local widening participation students in Yr10 and Yr12. Students will build their self-confidence, immerse themselves in a scientific environment and better understand key science skills, courses and careers.

They can choose from Life Sciences, Molecular Biology, Biological Sciences, Engineering, Earth Sciences, Physics and Maths, Geography or technical programmes.

The week long programme provides first-hand insight into the commercial world and includes a group project and spending time in a variety of departments.

Our programme is tailor-made to give you a feel for what life is like at Burges Salmon whilst giving us a chance to get to know you. This means you will not only learn about the role of lawyers but also gain insight into other functions like Finance, IT, Human Resources, Marketing and Business Development.

While here, you will learn more about teamwork, organisational and presentation skills as well as quality, accuracy and attention to detail. You will also learn about confidentiality and how to deal with people at different levels of the firm, building confidence, commercial awareness and interpersonal skills.

Theatre Royal Bath

7-11th July 2025

Our unique and innovative Junior Apprenticeship Week offers GCSE & A-Level students under 18 a chance to creatively explore a career in theatre-making and producing.

First, students will learn about the business of theatre-making in a series of workshops and talks from industry professionals.

Then, throughout the week, they will work in small companies to develop an idea for a show with the intention of presenting their pitch.

Through workshops and challenges, students will be awarded ‘Funding’ and an opportunity at each stage to decide what they want to spend their money on. Whether it’s a big-name star, an incredible set, or an advertising campaign. Each decision could determine the success or failure of their pitch as they race towards opening night.
