Careers and UCAS applications
Choosing a Sixth Form is an important step but equally important is deciding what to do at the end of your Sixth Form studies. At Oldfield School we provide a thorough programme of support for our students, whether they wish to apply to University or consider other options Post-18. While the vast majority of our students choose to go onto University, we tailor our programme to meet the individual needs of each and every student, regardless of their plans for the future.
In collaboration with the University of the West of England, we offer impartial advice to all students through a series of workshop sessions and one to one meetings. We also have a dedicated careers advisor who meets with every Year 12 student over the course of the year.
All students, over the course of their studies, have the opportunity to go to a work experience placement tailored to their chosen pathway after A levels. We run the BET Award and Embark Award for all students.
In addition, throughout the year, we attend events and invite guest speakers into school, to cover a range of aspects from apprenticeships to writing that all important personal statement. Most importantly, our Sixth Form tutors have a wealth of experience in guiding students through the UCAS process.
