GCSE Results Day 2018

Once again we are very proud of our students’ GCSE results, which have again risen with a sharp increase in the percentage of students achieving 5 grade 4 and above (standard pass) grades to 79%!  In the national measure of those achieving a grade 5 or above in both English and maths this was an excellent 52%, for grade 4 in both English and maths this was 76%.

At the highest grades 27% achieved a grade 7-9 (A to A*), with 10% of the year group achieving eight or more grades 7-9 (A to A*).  A number of individual excellent performances were;

Jed Quinn with eight grade 9s

Mary Rider with seven grade 9s

Adam Skuse with six grade 9s

Piper Tooker with ten grade 7-9s

Cameron Johnson with ten grade 7-9s

Anya Baker ten grade 7-9s

Megan Barwick ten grade 7-9s

Mr Mackay said “I am delighted with these results. It has been a very enjoyable morning seeing so many of our students so happy with their GCSE results and they have thoroughly deserved their success. These are, without doubt, the hardest GCSE examinations for a long time and to have so many of our students achieve the highest grades is a fantastic achievement. Along with our outstanding A-Level results last week this reflects the hard work of our students and also our very dedicated and skilled teachers. “
